Editorial Policy: How We Research, Check and Update Pages

  3. Independence
  4. Links to sister sites
  5. Corrections and updates

Every page on Canada Prize Social is researched from primary sources, dated, and checked again when the facts it depends on change. This page explains how that works, what we will and will not publish, and how links to other sites are chosen.

Where the facts come from

We start with the source closest to the fact:

  • Law and regulation: federal statutes on the Justice Laws Website, provincial statutes, and the regulators and lottery corporations themselves (for example the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, iGaming Ontario, BCLC, the AGLC and Loto-Québec).
  • Tax: the Canada Revenue Agency’s own guidance.
  • Apps and brands: the publisher’s terms of service, sweepstakes rules, help centre, and the app’s listing in the Canadian App Store or Google Play.
  • Purchases, refunds and parental controls: Apple’s and Google’s own support pages.

News reports and law firm articles are used only where no primary source exists, and the page says when a point is contested. Every page lists the sources it was checked against at the bottom, with the date of the check.

How we write about changeable facts

Social casino apps change their features, coin store prices and terms often, and sweepstakes brands change which provinces they accept. So:

  • Anything that can change carries a date, such as “as listed in the Canadian App Store in October 2026”.
  • We do not publish current promotions, bonus amounts or coin offers.
  • If we could not verify a detail from the brand’s or regulator’s own pages, we leave it out rather than guess.
  • Each page shows the date it was last checked, under the headline.

Independence

Canada Prize Social is not a casino and is not operated by any app publisher or casino. There are no paid placements, casino sign-up offers or affiliate links on this site, and we do not score or rank apps. Pages describe what costs money and what the catch is, including for the most popular apps.

We do not invent people. There are no personal bylines, reviewer profiles, testimonials or “we tested it” claims on this site. Pages are published under the name of the Canada Prize Social Editorial Desk.

Canada Prize Social is one of several gambling information sites under the same ownership. Some of them cover real-money gambling in Canada, which this site does not. When a reader is likely to need that next step, a page may link to one of them in the body text, as further reading:

  • casinontario.com, a guide to Ontario’s regulated online casino market.
  • slotmachinecasino.ca, which maps online casino regulation in each province and territory.
  • casinonline.ca, a Canadian guide to online casinos and gambling licences.
  • gamblemoose.ca, which covers Alberta’s online gambling market.

Those links follow three rules. A link only goes in where the linked page is the most useful further reading for that point. Facts on our own page are always backed by an official source, cited on the same page, not by the sister site. And links between our sites are plain editorial links: no paid placements, no link swaps and no sitewide link lists.

Corrections and updates

When a fact on a page turns out to be wrong or out of date, we correct the page and move its “Updated” date. When an app’s or brand’s terms change in a way that affects what a page says, the page is rewritten rather than patched with a note. Pages that can no longer be kept accurate are removed.

Responsible gambling

Pages about spending, sweepstakes or real-money play point readers to our responsible gambling page, which lists verified help lines for every province and territory. The site is for adults only.

Questions people ask

How do I know when a page was last checked?

Every page shows an Updated date under its headline and lists the sources it was checked against at the bottom. Anything that can change, such as an app's prices or a brand's eligibility rules, is dated in the text as well.

Why do some pages link to other gambling sites?

This site covers free-play apps only. When a reader needs the next step, such as how real-money gambling is licensed in a province, a page may link to a sister site under the same ownership. Those links are disclosed on this page and every fact on our own page is backed by an official source.
