Getting a Refund for Social Casino Coin Purchases

If you bought coins through the App Store or Google Play, the refund request goes to Apple or Google, not to the game. Both have a request process, neither promises a refund, and the games’ own terms treat coin sales as final, so the platform’s route is your best chance. A chargeback through your card issuer is a last resort, because it can cost you the game account.

How do you get a refund from Apple?

Apple handles in-app purchase refunds through its Report a Problem site. Its refund help page sets out the steps:

  1. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
  2. Choose “I’d like to”, then “Request a refund”.
  3. Pick the reason, then “Next”.
  4. Select the coin purchase, then “Submit”.

Apple says to expect an update within 24 to 48 hours and that an approved refund can take longer to reach your original payment method. It also says eligibility varies by country or region, and that your rights under consumer protection law still apply.

If you cannot find the charge, check your email for the receipt from Apple and make sure you are signed in to the account that paid. A Family Sharing organizer can see family members’ purchases by switching the account view to “All”.

How do Google Play refunds work?

Google Play gives you a short window. Its refund help page says that within 48 hours of the purchase you may be able to get a refund through Google Play’s own request process. After 48 hours, it tells you to contact the developer, who can handle refunds under its own policies and the law.

To request one on the web, as set out in Google’s step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to play.google.com and click your profile picture.
  2. Choose “Payments & subscriptions”, then “Budget & order history”.
  3. Next to the order, click “Report a problem” and pick the option that fits.
  4. Say in the form that you want a refund, then submit.

Know the trade-offs before you ask. If a refund is issued, you lose access to what you bought, and if several items were bought together, only the whole purchase can be refunded. Google also says it usually does not refund when an account or payment details have been shared, or when an account is not protected with purchase authentication. Turning that on is covered in our guide to setting your own limits.

What if a child made the purchase?

Ask for the refund the normal way. Google’s refund policies page says that if a friend or family member accidentally bought something with your account, you should request a refund rather than report an unauthorized charge. The unauthorized charge route is for purchases nobody you know made, and Google gives you 120 days from the transaction to report those.

On Apple devices, the same Report a Problem steps apply, and a Family Sharing organizer can see charges made by family members. Whatever the answer, set up purchase approvals next so it cannot happen again: our guide to parental controls and age ratings covers Ask to Buy and Family Link.

What do the games’ own terms say about refunds?

Publisher terms are blunt about coins. A few examples, read on October 13, 2026:

  • Playtika (Slotomania and other titles) says sales of virtual items are final. For purchases made directly with Playtika, it allows a refund or correction where the transaction was not started from your account, the items never arrived or you were charged the wrong amount. For purchases made through an app store, it points you to that store’s refund policy.
  • SciPlay says purchases of virtual goods and game currency are final and not refundable, except as required by law or at its discretion, and asks players with a problem to contact support through the in-game settings menu.
  • Big Fish Games says virtual items cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash, apart from a separate addendum for players in Europe and the United Kingdom.

Playtika’s and SciPlay’s terms both leave room for what the law requires, and all terms change, so read the current version in the app before you rely on any of this.

If you paid outside the App Store and Google Play, for example on a publisher’s own web shop or in a game played on Facebook in a web browser, the store refund routes above do not apply. Check the receipt to see who processed the payment and start with that company’s support team.

Why is a chargeback risky?

A chargeback asks your card issuer to reverse a charge. For a purchase you did not make, a card dispute is a normal part of protecting your account. For coins you did buy, it can backfire.

SciPlay’s terms say misuse of any refund process, whether its own or a third party’s, may lead to temporary or permanent suspension or closure of the account, and that purchases are forfeited if the account is closed. Big Fish’s terms prohibit using payment methods or refund systems for fraudulent purposes and say no refund is given if an account is terminated. A disputed coin purchase that the publisher sees as unjustified puts your progress and remaining coins at risk.

The safer order is the store’s process first, then the developer, then your card issuer only if the charge was not yours.

Questions people ask

How long do I have to ask Google Play for a refund?

Google Play says you may be able to get a refund through its own request process if it has been less than 48 hours since the purchase. After 48 hours, Google's help pages send you to the app's developer, who decides under its own policies and the law.

My child bought coins on my phone. Can I get the money back?

You can ask. On Apple devices, use the Request a refund option at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Google Play, if a family member bought something by accident using your account, Google says to request a refund rather than report it as unauthorized. Neither store guarantees a yes, so set up purchase approvals afterwards.

Will a chargeback get my social casino account banned?

It can. SciPlay's terms, for example, say misuse of any refund process, including one run by a third party, may lead to suspension or closure of the account, and that purchases are forfeited if an account is closed. Try the store's refund process first.
