Friends features let you add other players (often your Facebook friends), send and receive free coin gifts, sit at private tables and compare scores on leaderboards. They add a social layer and a steady trickle of free coins. They also pull your friends list into the app, and turn gift-swapping into one more reason to open it every day.

How do friends lists and gifts work?

Gifts come in two kinds, and the difference matters.

Free daily coin gifts are swapped between friends at no cost. As described by the publishers in October 2026:

  • DoubleDown Casino encourages you to invite Facebook friends, send them gifts and get gifts back. Its Diamond Club page says these gifts are redeemable daily for Facebook-connected accounts only, and the number you can redeem rises from 3 a day at the lowest tier to 15 at the top.
  • Slotomania lists daily free coins from Facebook friends among its free coin sources.
  • Caesars Slots’ loyalty page says the coins in each gift from a friend grow with your tier, from 50 coins at Bronze.

Bought gifts cost you virtual currency. Big Fish Casino sells gifts for virtual Gold in a Gift Store, including chips for another player and fun items such as drinks, pets and emotes. Huuuge Casino says it has no direct chip sharing, to keep the game fair, so its virtual gifts are bought with your own chips as a way to show appreciation. House of Fun lets you send and receive gifts with friends too.

The rules around gifting are strict. Playtika’s terms (June 2026) bar transferring, selling or gifting virtual items except where a game allows it, and bar selling or transferring your account. Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines allow gifting of in-app purchase items, but say a gift can only be refunded to the person who bought it.

What does connecting Facebook share with the app?

Facebook login is often optional, but it is tied to features. myVEGAS Slots says linking is not required to play, yet some features are not available without it, and it is how you recover your account on a new or lost device. Jackpot Party’s store listing warns that a guest account does not merge with a Facebook account, so choose early.

What the app receives depends on what you approve. Meta’s help page on apps and games connected to your Facebook account explains that apps can always see your public profile, such as your name and picture, and can see anything else only if you chose to share it. An app you have not used for 90 days loses access to that non-public information, and an app you remove may still hold data it collected earlier. Meta’s developer permissions reference says the friends permission gives an app the list of your friends who also use it.

The publisher’s privacy policy shows what it collects. Playtika’s privacy notice (last updated June 2026) lists, for players who log in with Facebook, Google or Apple: platform ID, friends list, name, profile picture and link, gender, birthday or age, and the email used to log in. It also says social features may show your gameplay, name and photo to your connections.

One practical side effect: Huuuge Casino syncs Facebook friends daily, so a friend you remove in the game comes back unless you also unfriend them on Facebook.

How do leaderboards and chat work, and how do you stay safe?

Leaderboards rank you against friends, clubs or every player in an event. Big Fish Casino invites you to climb its event leaderboards, and Jackpot Party added leaderboards so players can see where they rank. Like club and league tables, many reward volume.

Chat is where most of the risk sits. Some basics, drawn from the publishers’ tools and the Government of Canada’s Get Cyber Safe advice on gaming:

  • Assume chat is not private. Playtika’s privacy notice says in-game chat may be accessed and read by Playtika and by other players.
  • Keep personal details out. Skip your location, age and gender, and pick a username that does not identify you.
  • Never click links from strangers. Get Cyber Safe warns that offers of game hacks, cheats or player accounts are common phishing lures.
  • Use the tools. Big Fish Casino lets you report a player from their profile, which alerts moderators and hides their chats from you. Huuuge offers a mute button, with reports going to support along with screenshots.
  • Report fraud. If someone takes money from you for coins or an account, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or at 1-888-495-8501.

What is the catch with friends and gifts?

  • Gifting is a daily loop. Swapping gifts every day is pleasant, and it is also another reason to open the app every day.
  • Your friends list becomes the app’s audience. Invites and shared activity bring new players in, and the data shared at login goes beyond your name.
  • Paying players give bigger gifts. When gift size or count rises with a tier, as at Caesars Slots and DoubleDown, the social side quietly advertises the paid side.
  • Gifts are not money. Like everything else in the app, a gift has no cash value, and selling one breaks the terms of publishers such as Playtika.

Questions people ask

Do I have to log in with Facebook to play social casino apps?

Often not. myVEGAS Slots, for example, says linking Facebook or an Apple ID is not required to play, but it is needed for some features and for recovering your account on a new device. Without a linked login, your progress may be tied to one device.

What information does a casino app get from my Facebook account?

Apps can always see your public profile, such as your name and profile picture, and anything else only if you agreed to share it when logging in. Playtika's privacy notice, for example, lists your platform ID, friends list, name, profile picture, gender, birthday or age, and email. You can review or remove an app's access in your Facebook settings.

Can I send coins to a friend in a social casino app?

Some apps allow small daily coin gifts between friends, such as DoubleDown Casino and Slotomania. Others do not: Huuuge Casino says it has no direct chip sharing. Selling coins or accounts breaks publishers' terms (Playtika's ban it, for example), so treat anyone offering to sell you coins as a likely scam.
